Just completed the hi poly version of this track structure which is basically a huge shield barrier which prevents sea water from flooding the tracks.

Will that be one of the obstacles? A giant wall of gushing seawater would be very cool.

Hi Duncan a giant wall of gushing seawater flowing from a crack in the shields is a great idea :D That'll be awesome to make use of our refraction shaders.
